What is the first step in creating my dream extension or conversion?

We would all love to know the price of something upfront, sometimes though we need to clarify the requirements before an accurate price can be provided. As such, our Litten Design company is the first step in your dream extension or conversion. We will arrange our structural engineer & architect to visit your property to undertake a detailed survey and then begin the planning (if necessary) stages followed by a full plans application to building control.

Do I need a full plans application or will a building notice do?

A building notice is a very simple acknowledgment from Building Control of an initial ‘fag-packet drawing’, it simply informs them that a change to a property is being made and visits will be required. However, a full plans application is a detailed specification which describes the build and materials and ensures that the latest regulations have been applied. A full plans application reduces the chance for costly rework and means that building control approves the specification upfront. Albeit a building notice is slightly cheaper, as the client, you take unnecessary risk.
